It provides additional support for the line against the added weight of other shells enclosed within its elongated body and helps to prevent the tube from being damaged and misaligned with the receiver if bumped, dropped or roughly handled during use. 

Designed to withstand the accelerated wear, tear and abuse encountered in action shooting competitions, the aluminum clamp is explicitly sized for compatibility with a Nordic Components magazine tube. Still, it will also work with any other magazine tube extension with an outside diameter of approximately 1.06″. This version of the nordic components 1301 barrel clamp comes with a detachable Mini-Tac Rail, perfect for adding a sling mount, light, laser or other Picatinny Rail-compatible tactical accessory. For 12 Gauge only.

This nordic components heavy wall barrel clamp is compatible with 12 Gauge Shotguns equipped with a Nordic Component’s magazine tube extension EXCEPT for those produced by Mossberg. The correct nordic components barrel clamp gasket for all Mossberg 12 Gauge models are part numbers 552-414 (Clamp Only) and 352-914 (Clamp w/Accessory Rail). Note this will NOT work with the Benelli Nova and Super Nova.
